인터넷이 멈춘 날 (2003) | The Day the Internet Stopped (2003)

2003년 1월 25일 토요일 오후, 전국적으로 인터넷이 먹통이 되고 있다는 소식과 함께 안랩에 긴급 제보가 들어왔습니다. 바로  MS-SQL 서버가 ‘이상 패킷’을 뿌리고 있다는 제보였습니다. 안랩의 보안 전문가들은 즉시 KIDC(인터넷데이터센터)로 달려가 조사에 착수했고, 몇 시간 만에 원인이 신종 웜바이러스인 ‘SQL 슬래머(Worm.SQL.Slammer)’임을 밝혀냈습니다.

On the afternoon of, January 25, 2003, Ahnlab received an urgent report as news spread that internet was down across the country. The report indicated that MS-SQL servers were sending out "abnormal packets." AhnLab’s cybersecurity experts immediately rushed to the KIDC (Korea Internet Data Center) to investigate, and within just a few hours, they identified the cause: a new worm virus called "SQL Slammer (Worm.SQL.Slammer)."

 

1.25 인터넷 대란 당시 안철수 대표의 대응책 설명

 

밤새 솔루션 개발에 몰두한 끝에, 26일 아침에는 사태의 해결책인 ‘MS 보안패치’의 설치 여부를 확인하고 패킷 트래픽을 추적할 수 있는 솔루션을 배포했습니다. 하지만 사태는 끝나지 않았습니다. 27일, 개인 PC도 감염될 수 있다는 사실이 드러난 것입니다. 안랩(안철수연구소)은 다시 한번 긴급 대응에 나서 개인 사용자용 솔루션을 신속히 공개했습니다.

AhnLab worked tirelessly through the night to develop a solution. And, by the morning of the 26th, AhnLab released a tool that could check whether the "MS security patch" had been installed and track packet traffic—it was the key to resolving the situation. But the crisis wasn’t over yet. On the 27th, it was discovered that even personal computers could be infected. Once again, AhnLab responded immediately, releasing a new solution for individual users.
